Codevember IX: A Weekend of Innovation, Creativity and Fun

This year’s Codevember IX hackathon was an unforgettable experience! The event was hosted by AI Xpress in Boeblingen, the location is simply awesome for tech enthusiasts.

Our Codevember IX weekend was running from Friday until Sunday. We were thrilled to meet old study colleagues from around Germany and even the Czech Republic. This year’s event was a bit special, since we had our first non-digital project by pitching a self-made board game. Other projects focused on creating a 2D game in Unity, 3D modeling and printing analog gaming figures, and further developing our daily used Telegram bot written in Python. Overall it was great to reconnect with friends, and have a fantastic time building and developing together.

Between coding sessions and presenting our pitched projects, we enjoyed just spending time with each other, sipping coffee, and having fun e.g. with the VR headset Meta Quest 2. Diving into new (analog) game mechanics and new development strategies, especially for creating a board game, was challenging but fun nonetheless. Overall we can’t wait for the next Codevember event to show up!

We used the time and event as an opportunity to hold our annual Codevember e.V. club meeting. In addition to re-electing the board of directors, we discussed investments in new projects and plans for the upcoming year and started to pitch ideas for the next Codevember X. One of the highlights of the event was the official announcement of our club’s new mascot, Pauli the dog.

We owe a huge thank you to AI Xpress for sponsoring the event and providing the perfect location for Codevember IX 2022. Go check them out at https://aixpress.io/. They also kindly offered to hold the next event in their rooms as well. Thank you for that! We are excited to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Codevember this year in November 2023! So stay tuned!

We had the privilege of using their state-of-the-art so called “Makerspace”, a facility that is furnished with a variety of equipment including 3D printers, tools, tables, and a presentation-ready TV. Additionally, the room features a well-appointed coffee corner that is open to everyone in the building. During our stay, we had the opportunity to interact with people who shared their unique startup ideas on which they are currently working on, which was a very refreshing and interesting experience.
